- Approach physical activity and sport from a scientific and pedagogical perspective, applying innovative means and methods; - Plan, develop and evaluate sports training and physical exercise processes, applying critically and appropriately, in an integrated manner, knowledge specific to their specialty and multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary transversal knowledge; - Encourage and promote the formation of healthy lifestyle habits through physical activity and sport among the population; - Supervising sports organizations, entities, facilities and events, and cooperating in the construction, development and evaluation of their projects; - Using sports spaces and equipment appropriately and adapting them to the circumstances; - Knowing the organization and structure of sport, acting in accordance with the legislation; - Using physical activity and sport as a means of acquiring values, in any place of professional intervention.

- Students who have completed the 12th grade and taken the national exams indicated Holders of a technological specialization diploma in area CNAEF 8, who have taken the national examindicated; - Holders of a professional higher technician diploma in area CNAEF 8, who have taken the national exam indicated; - Holders of professional courses in the CNAEF 813 area who have passed the Lusófona Group higher education entrance exam; - Over 23s who have passed the ISMAT special higher education entrance exam; - International students who have passed the ISMAT higher education entrance exam; - Holders of other higher education courses.

The course promotes transversal skills that allow professional practice in various contexts, however, considering that specialization is referred to the end of the academic path and to other degrees of education, there are specific skills related to each professional context.

In the area of Physical Education, the mastery and interpretation of the National Physical Education Programs, the application of the subjects that integrate them, the planning and evaluation of the teaching-learning process and the promotion of physical fitness education and the development of motor skills are skills to be considered. In the area of Exercise and Well-being, the assessment and prescription of training programs, applying in a critical and integrated manner all the knowledge specific to their specialty, for the benefit of society as a factor promoting health and general well-being are the competences outlined. In the area of Sports Training, the expected competences include mastery of the contents of Training Methodology and the modalities in the historical, technical, tactical and organizational dimensions, as well as the organization, planning and control of training and competition aimed at different age groups and levels of practice.

The course allows access to 2nd cycle or master's degree courses, namely in the areas of Physical Education Teaching, Exercise and Well-Being, Sociology of Sport, Sports Coaching, among others.

Access to the course requires a prerequisite from group E (functional and physical aptitude) and one of the following specific tests: 02 Biology and Geology 16 Mathematics 18 Portuguese The calculation formula for access to the course is as follows: (final secondary school mark X 65%) + (entrance test mark X 35%), neither of which can be lower than 95 points.

- Direct access to the Professional Titles of Physical Exercise Technician and Technical Director (Law 39/2012, of August 28), which are mandatory for exercising these functions in gyms, fitness centers or health clubs, namely: Personal Trainer, Teacher of Group Classes and Assessment, Prescription and Supervision of Physical Exercise; - Professional Exercise as a Sports Coach in Clubs, Associations, Federations and Local Authorities; - Senior Sports Technician in the Local Authority Sector (Town Halls); - Teacher of Curricular Enrichment Activities of Physical Activity and Sport in the 1st cycle of basic education, both in the public system and in private initiative; - Sports Animator in the context of adventure sports, nature exploration activities and in the business context; - Trainer in the various areas of specialty linked to Sports Sciences; - Access to the Professional Master's Degree in Physical Education Teacher Training, which will allow the exercise of the function of Physical Education Teacher in Public or Private Primary and Secondary Education, as well as access to Master's Degrees linked to Sports Training and Exercise and Health.
